After a thrilling battle at the Asian Games, India achieved a historic victory in the javelin throw. Neeraj Chopra secured the gold while Kishore Jena bagged the silver. Neeraj retained his Asian Games gold with his season's best throw of 88.88m. The Indian heroics in the men's category came right after Annu Rani won the women's javelin gold medal. Neeraj and Kishore were under pressure early in the men's javelin final due to a technical glitch. Due to technical reasons, Neeraj missed the first throw and the match was delayed. Kishore Jena's second throw was wrongly fouled. However, both players overcame the initial setbacks and finished with medals. Japan's Dean Genki Roderick won bronze with a throw of 82.68m. Kishore led halfway through the men's javelin final. Neeraj cheered on Jena from close quarters as he cleared his personal best distance of 87.54m. Neeraj's joy at Jena setting his personal best was a touching moment. Kishore Jena, who impressed in his maiden World Championship earlier this year, gave India a scare when he gave Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra a scare in the Asian Games final.
